Coyle’s Bonspiel
The clubhouse was humming with excitement on March 9th as LCC members and guests arrived for the Coyles Bonspiel. As soon as curlers entered the clubhouse they could smell the delicious aroma of soups being prepared for lunch. Tables were set up with an array of draw prizes and silent auction items, generously donated by club members. Breakfast treats and hot beverages were on offer for all to enjoy.
The curling sheets were gleaming and ready for the first draw to begin, thanks to our skilled ice keeper Mike Moloney.
First draw Teams got busy with their games, displaying a spirit of fun and competitive grit out on the ice. This spirit could be seen and heard throughout the day as teams from both draws took on their opponents.
First draw winners were: 1st place - Jeanette Wood and team, 2nd - Keith Hockaday and team, and 3rd - Dave Beaumont and team.
Winners of the late draw were: 1st place - John Shaw and team, 2nd place - Luke Parsons and team, and 3rd place - Adrian Joosse and team.
Many individuals helped to make this a successful event. Sincere thanks go out to Laurie Powers who was head score keeper, and Prize organizers Ramona Strojevs and Doug Benneyworth. Special thanks to the ladies league convened by Cathy Orr, who prepared the delicious sandwich bar, flavourful soups, and tasty dessert treats. Bartending was covered by George Langley, Patrick and Jennifer Croome, and Linda Kapron. A special note of appreciation goes out to club manager Glen Boyd for helping out with the bar and kitchen, and cleaning up before and after the bonspiel.
Finally, thanks to Mike for organizing the bonspiel and making sure the ice was in top shape for both draws.
